  • SH 34-76 Tweeter info???

So, I have a set of the ATC SH34-76 tweeters in some 150asl speakers. Don’t think k have ever seen another set of these tweeters.

can anyone tell me anything about them? They sound good, are made very well as you would imagine.

Thats about all all I know about them. Any info’ background, performance against new and older tweeters?

    Many thanks.

Sorry about previous post I put the wrong product number in!!!!

Hi, are you shure the speakers are 150asl speakers. In earlyer times a speaker called ATC PA 65 was build with this chassis combination. He was build for clubs and discotecs.
Hi Folks, I have been offered a pair of these for what seems like a very good price. Are they really identical to the SCM150's just enclosed in a heavy

Thanks for the reply! Well that is the tweeter for defiant. If you know anything about it that would be great?

Are they the same design as the newer ATC tweeters but with a larger voice coil I wonder? The model number might suggest this?

There are some online photos of a SH34-76 if you do a search for images on "ATC SH34-76". They look just like a 34mm version of the SH25-76 ATC tweeter. I saw rumours some time ago of a 34mm version for higher power handling. However, I don't recall any announcement or remember seeing other reliable information, but certainly I may have missed this. And it looks like the only standard 'speakers on the ATC website using a 34mm tweeter the are the professional SCM200 and SCM300, not any of the standard SCM150 versions.

Maybe I am too suspicious of online sources but IMHO, there are too few images to be convincing without further support. But there is reliable information from Mademe2. So, perhaps a SH34-76 is used for special cases. For example, for the bigger standard pro builds and for custom builds (including, I assume, these SCM150s).

I am just speculating. A telephone call to the factory with serial numbers might well be a good idea to enquire about the 'speakers' history. ATC have records and reports are that they are very helpful. And if possible, a follow-up here would be interesting.

Yes. Now that you remind me, I have read of at least one person who re-built a PA65 into a regular cabinet. On the old ATC Forums, I think.

And a search turns up https://www.pinterest.co.uk/TheTrike...ect-pa65-atc-/ which seems to show the same conversion project with a 34 mm tweeter that looks rather ATC-like (and with a super-tweeter). I think I recall that PA65s were being sold off rather inexpensively by some live music venues when they shut down. And some people were doing this conversion.

          Regards

          John
