  • My old ATC SCM19s version 1

Finally, I managed to get my pictures uploaded, thanks for help provided by the forum!

The picture shows my ATC SCM19s version 1. I bought them used from a local ATC dealer after I had the SCM11s for some time. At that time, I was thinking of buying an SCM40 passive, but I thought that my listening room is a bit small for the 40s so that it would load the room with too much energy. The speakers are set on bespoke stands made by a dealer specialising in Harbeth speakers. Besides selling the standard Harbeth/Spendor stands, he also manufactures bespoke stands for any loudspeaker. He was quite pleased to make some for ATC speakers!

The SCM19s are driven by the Devialet Expert 120, that will perhaps be upgraded to the Expert Pro 140. But the Devialet amp drives the 19s with absolute ease! My music library and Qobuz streams are fed into the Devialet via Ethernet by a SonicTransporter i5 running Roon. A very simple, but sweet setup.

My listening/living room is a bit difficult: on one side, it has a glass front towards the garden and it has leather sofas and leather chairs, so quite many reflective areas. On top of that we have a piano in the living room. I had to play a lot to find the optimal position. Also, I had to do a bit of EQing with REW. The stands need to be shortened a bit as the acoustic centre of the speakers is a little too high. But I am pretty pleased as the are situated now.

The sound of the Devialet/SCM19 combo is beautiful! ATC does make some fine speakers!

      Thanks!

We still have a CD player in the rack. That's because my wife has lots of CDs still and I haven't gotten around ripping them. Once this is done, we can dispose of the CD player altogether.

I so much like the SCM19s that I am thinking of buying the current SCM19 speakers!

Nice system. I'm glad you've kept your CD player - I reckon CDs will be around for a long time yet.

The CD player is a must for my wife. I myself don't have CDs anymore, but she has lots of them. She somehow distrusts nowadays streaming, like Qobuz/Tidal, and stubbornly relies on CDs. I could rip them, of course, but these are exclusively classical albums and Room has lots of difficulties in cataloguing them. So for that the CD player stays.
